Where do I fit in?

If you are feeling alone, unwanted, not sure who you are or where you fit in, I get it. I have been there myself and I share all of those emotions. It's not easy going through the experience we have been through and it is one that only we understand which is why it is good to work with a therapist who shares the same experience.

Adoption is not a single event in a person’s life. It is an ongoing experience, continually impacting the lives of all involved, most importantly, US, the adoptee. Adults of adoption often struggle to understand our identity, our value. We struggle with trust, relationships, being vulnerable, or where we fit in. You will find that we are typically perfectionists, overachievers, and our own worst critic. We are on a lifelong quest to fit in, to belong, to find a sense of identity.

Being an adoptee can create a more complicated life as it typically enhances our reactions and emotions to life’s events. People will comment that we are more reactive (explosive), or the opposite (detached), than other people might be in similar situations. This can be attributed to attachment issues and trauma resulting from the adoption experience. As an adopted person myself, I too have struggled with many of these obstacle’s and am aware of the complexities which are present in our relationship to ourselves, others, and the world around us.

No matter where you are in the process, I am here ready to help. You have someone  here who gets it and who won't abandon you. All you have to do is schedule an appointment and let's get started.
